Steel Gong Targets

A gong is the simplest steel target there is: a round AR500 plate, hung so it swings and rings on the hit. It is where most shooters start with steel, and a good one lasts for years. We sell everything from 3" rimfire plates to 12" long-range rounds, plus hangers, chains and T-post kits, from Shooting Targets USA, Bash Target Supply, AR500 and Top Tier Biz.

Which gong do I need?

• Size: a 6" gong at 100 yards is about the size of a deer’s vitals; 10"–12" for long range, 3"–4" for pistol precision.
• Thickness: 3/8" AR500 for pistol and standard rifle; 1/2" for magnum and heavy use.
• Hanging: chains let the plate swing and shed energy; a fixed mount rings louder but wears faster.
• Distance: 10 yards pistol, 100 yards rifle, per the maker’s rating on each page.

Gongs ship parcel; sets and stands may ship freight. Ranges buying by the dozen get bulk pricing.
