Steel targets are the reusable end of the range: an AR500 plate takes thousands of rounds where a paper target takes one. Which steel do I need? 3/8" AR500 handles pistol calibers and standard rifle rounds at distance; 1/2" AR500 or AR550 is for magnum rifle and high-volume range use. Every product page states the maker’s caliber rating and minimum distance — handgun targets are typically rated from 10 yards, rifle targets from 100 yards.
